Arriving in Loughrea in 1300, the Carmelites have played a big part in the life of our town. Meet the Carmelites at a unique Candlelit Medieval Latin Mass, and hymns, in the ruins of the Old Carmelite Abbey.

About Loughrea Medieval Festival

The town of Loughrea in County Galway is home to Ireland’s only functioning Medieval town moat.

The festival committee aim to engage with all age groups, in this family friendly weekend taking place to coincide with National Heritage Week.
