Loughrea, County Galway will once again transform into a bustling medieval town for the 3rd Annual Award Winning Loughrea Medieval Festival, on August 26th – 28th, 2016.

The town of Loughrea in County Galway is home to Ireland’s only functioning Medieval town moat. The festival committee aim to engage with all age groups, in this free family friendly weekend taking place to coincide with National Heritage Week.

Digital 3D Reconstruction of Medieval Loughrea – Phase 1

A movie reviewing the first iteration of a multi-phased project to build a detailed and extensive 3D reconstructed digital interpretation of how Loughrea, Co. Galway (West of Ireland) may have looked in the mid to late Medieval period.

This work has been developed by Realsim on behalf of Loughrea Medieval Festival, The Heritage Council and Galway County Council and has been funded by The Heritage Council and Galway County Council.
